Project Overview
Working with the clients regional surveyors and incumbent framework contractors, Lux Bright provided accurate lighting, emergency lighting, and lighting control designs that aligned with the safety and comfort needs of the residents.
Our Approach
Lux Bright implemented smart lighting controls that allow for the dimming of the lights in the general circulation areas, quickly illuminating to full output when an individual’s movement is detected before returning to their dimmed state when there is no occupancy around the light.
For health and safety purposes, different areas have varying levels of dimmed light. For example, the stairwells dim back to 50% of normal output as opposed to 10% for corridor lighting, increasing safety and resident comfort in specific areas. Other areas within the property have a fixed output such as lounges, dining areas and games room where sensor control may be deemed more of a nuisance.
Lux Bright considered the aesthetics of specific lights, with a “hotel feel” being a popular choice, leading to the use of metallic finishes such as satin nickel as a popular choice in entrance and breakout areas. Halo effects which reflect light on the mounting surfaces also proved popular and improved the overall lit environment.
Technical Assurance
Computer-aided design (CAD) was used to ensure technical accuracy and detailed technical specifications. Each lighting system was designed for performance and compliance. The lighting and emergency lighting calculations performed to the accepted standards in CIBSE LG9 and BS5266.
Results
Lux Bright delivered a lighting solution that aligned with Anchor’s mission to create choice and opportunity for their residents. The lighting dims in selected areas to ensure resident comfort and safety. In communal areas, the lighting remains fixed to ensure these areas are readily accessible to residents. The result is a bespoke lighting solution that ensures compliance and safety whilst supporting Anchor’s commitment to their residents, ensuring choice and opportunity at all times.
