Working with the client’s appointment consultant, Lux Bright’s commitment to the social housing sector, product quality, surveying and lighting design solutions were corroborated. The project across general needs and care home environments required the SMARTLED emergency lighting platform to be extended to include monitoring of non-emergency luminaires. This presented a technical challenge as the non-emergency lights required a permanent live.
Our Approach
This challenge was overcome by using DALI-enabled lights in conjunction with a switch node, alongside using industry accepted MK grid wiring accessory solutions. This allowed for residents and users of the care facility to operate the lighting without any changes to the lighting that cause a significant impact. Reducing energy consumption was a key objective, and the solution achieved Lux Bright’s lowest LED power consumption to date, at approximately 6W, while still meeting the required illuminance levels.
Technical Assurance
Compliance with the specified lux requirements was independently verified by the project consultant. Verification by the consultant involves Lux Bright attending sites, carrying out surveys, replicating the site in CAD, and using lighting design software to create a 3D model demonstrating the lighting and emergency lighting levels, down to individual stair treads. Training on the new system has also been provided at all levels of the supply chain.
Results
The result was a tailored lighting solution that met the general needs and care home environment requirements, including the extension of the SMARTLED emergency lighting platform to enable the monitoring of non-emergency luminaires. DALI-enabled lights were used in conjunction with a switch node and industry-accepted MK Grid wiring accessory solutions. The project achieved Lux Bright’s lowest LED power consumption, at approximately 6W. The specified lux requirements were independently verified by a project consultant, and training on the new system was provided.
